The top 10 best restaurants in Bristol

Always a contentious point, our top ten list of Bristol restaurants is based on the complete offering. It’s the list of places we love to go, enjoy great food great service and ‘no dramas’.

1. The Pump House, Winter or Summer, Sun or rain, a great place to while away the hours. The cute golden lab who is often on site edges this great eatery into first place. Some will disagree and we welcome it.

2. Prosecco, Italian Clifton Village – A marvellous little place, now finds national fame thanks to Gordon Ramsey but very valid

3. The Olive shed , Harbourside – Just a great place and a summer favourite, well priced, beautiful food and a little hidden gem.

4. Namaskar Lounge, Welshback – Indian dreams, superb food that’s like no other Indian we’ve tasted. Great big open kitchen and superb cocktails in the lounge bar. Bristols best Indian

5. Casa Mia – Westbury – Bristols only Michelin starred restaurant, not a place to frequent but nice to sample the culinary cutting edge. (Would be number 1 but its not that kind of list)

6. The Lido, Clifton – If simply for the escapism we love the Lido it’s a great place to escape to, great home style cakes and superb food. Can also work up an appetite in the pool

7. The Priory, Portbury – Although a little out of the way this place is a real unsung hero, always busy, hearty fair at a good price, It gets my vote as the winter choice when you can jump in the car whatever your wearing and be warmed by the open fire.

8. Pie Minister, St Nicks Market and Gloucester Road. A Bristol institution , superb pies, superb gravy, great mash and super mushy peas. The only let down is a lack of toilet at either premises.

9. Thali Café, Various locations around Bristol, proving very popular and creating a stamp on the area. Food is very good but not quite the same as Namaskar. Its got an earthy vibe and you always feel welcome.

10. Dynasty Chinese Victoria street Bristol, Has been a favourite for many years, a working lunch is always a pleasure with the best local tea and piping hot fresh food.

Special mention to Aqua for the best lunch/day menu, the Classico represents real portions for your lunch menu (cow shed take note).
